Dr. Israel Martínez has a background in Electrical Engineering (BSc) and a in Biotechnology (MSc) from Tecnologico de Monterrey university (Mexico) . His expertise is focused in the design, fabrication and test of microfluidic devices for manipulation of cells and particles through passive and active mechanisms. In 2013 he obtained a PhD from the same university with a thesis regarding the integration of passive micromixing technology in an SPRi (Surface Resonance Plasmon imaging) biosensor as a result of a long term collaboration with the Institute of Photonics and Electronics (Czech Republic). Israel Martínez is currently a postdoctoral researcher of Tecnologico de Monterrey and a visiting research scholar at the Research Laboratory of Electronics in the Micro/Nanofluidic BioMEMS group, which is leaded by Professor Jongyoon Han the MIT.
